Stout & Co

Amsterdam

Fleming Steven Delva and Dutchman Stefan Bennenbroek combined three design plans in one single building: A total project in the centre of Amsterdam in which the bounda- ries between working, living and receiving guests flow into one another. In the beginning the couple considered purchasing just one part of the former Stout & Co brewery, but in the end circumstances forced them to purchase the entire property. The ground floor houses the design offices of Delva Landscape Architects and Puur Plus designers while the first floor has been converted into a B&B with five mini apart- ments. And each of the architects converted the top floor into two private 270 m2 lofts for themselves, with views over the city. Each of the apartments has views over the beautifully restored brewery buildings at the front and access to the shared terrace at the back. For the landscaping of the terrace, Delva designed a series of RR pots and red U-shaped plant pots with hostas. For the interior design, Steven and Stefan worked together with young Flemish Designers. The sofas are particularly eye-catching and were designed by Stefan, with upholstering by Jeffrey from Bruges. The cushions were created by his partner, Ilse Acke. On the wall hang lambs by designer Heidewinne and old West Flanders bicycle tax discs. Interior architect Stefan Bennenbroek has been at the helm of Puur Plus Ontwerpers since 2001. The Puur Plus team of architects, product developers and interior designers primarily combine their expertise to produce designs for retail premises, with particular emphasis on customized projects and timeless design. In recent years, the company has worked in close consultation with the Dutch chain Suit Supply, designing a number of stores in which increasingly new and innovative concepts have been implemented. After completing his studies in Ghent, Steven Delva headed for Amsterdam where he obtained his Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture. Steven went on to work for, among others, Luc Enghelhard and Lodewijk Baljon, until he set up his own company in 2008. Delva designs projects for private individuals, designers and government authorities in the Benelux. Sustainability and the inherent dynamics of nature are the leitmotif throughout his work, which ranges from the garden of a villa in De Panne to a park redeveloped on disused land in Amsterdam.
